Given below are two statements, one marked as Assertion (A) and the other as Reason (R). Read the statements and choose the correct option.
Assertion (A) : When unable to ‘make meaning’, efficient readers slow down and reread the text clarifying confusion before continuing further.
Reason (R) : Metacognition hinders the process of meaning-making.
A(A) is true, but (R) is false.(A)
BBoth (A) and (R) are false.(A)
CBoth (A) and (R) are true and (R) is the correct explanation of (A).(A) और (R) दोनों सही हैं और (A) की (R) सही व्याख्या करता है ।
DBoth (A) and (R) are true, but (R) is not the correct explanation of (A).(A) और (R) दोनों सही हैं, लेकिन (A) की (R) सही व्याख्या नहीं करता है ।

Correct answer: (A)(A) is true, but (R) is false.(A)
Explanation
Efficient readers monitor their comprehension and reread when meaning breaks down, so (A) is true. This monitoring is metacognition, which supports meaning-making rather than hindering it, so (R) is false.
